Saturday was the first dry sunny day last week and perfect weather for the Arena Eventing at Muirmill. Laura and Lee (and all their helpers) have worked so hard to get the outdoor arena ready and build the cross country course on time for Saturday’s competition which attracted over 50 entries. It is fantastic to see Muirmill becoming a top class equestrian venue again. The cross country course looked so inviting that I spent the day wishing I could have a go. Hopefully there will be more Arena Eventing days at Muirmill as from all the feedback I heard on the day it was a huge success.
Here is a small selection of photographs from the day – there are over 400 on the client page on my website (go to Marian McNeil Photography client page – password is Muirmill) where you can order prints, framed prints or canvases.
I also now offer yard shoots and equine portrait sessions so of you would like more details please just contact me and we can discuss your ideas.

At the weekend I had the pleasure photographing Dundonald Show and the weather was kind!! Although the wind was cold and blustery the sun kept breaking through and it stayed dry which made everybody’s day so much more enjoyable. Dundonald Show attracts competitors from far and wide and has classes for a wide range of abilities and disciplines. It is so well organised and has a fantastic family atmosphere. Here is a small sample of photographs from the day. There are more on the client page of my website http://www.marianmcneilphotography.co.uk/clientarea – go to Dundonald Show and put in the password Dundonald.
Please feel free to leave a comment on the blog.

Although I specialise in Wedding and Portrait photography, when I get the opportunity to combine another great passion of mine – horses – with photography, I jump at it.
So let me show you what we got up to with “The Black Mare” – she is called Dikota, is 3 years old and is simply stunning.

Just a few from Karen & Matt’s recent wedding a Glenapp Castle – I hope you are having a fantastic honeymoon and I cannot wait to show you the rest of your photographs

One of the aspects I love about this job is getting to know really great people from all over the UK and the world. Karen and Matt are planning their wedding at Glenapp Castle – one of my favourite venues for so many reasons - and managed to plan a trip to Scotland from their home in Cheshire to organise and confirm some of the details for their wedding in April.
We met over coffee (great coffee and a great view over the harbour) and discussed all the details of their day. We even sent Matt off for a walk so the girls could talk dress and shoes – needless to say I cannot wait to see Karen in her dress!!.
We then headed out to take some pre wedding photographs, which is about helping the couple relax and realise how much fun the photography aspect can be. One of the most common “concerns” I hear from couples is that they hate having their photographs taken or that they are not photogenic. A big aspect of my job is to help allay any fears and show the couple how much fun it can be and therefore how good they will look because they are relaxed and having fun.
So here is a small selection from Karen and Matt’s pre wedding shoot. Looking forward to their wedding.

Last week I met up with Fiona and Mark for their pre wedding meeting and shoot. We headed out to Troon Harbour for a few photographs and then made the most of a blustery autumn evening on the beach.
Here are a few photographs from the shoot.

Really looking forward to your wedding day.
Marian.
Michelle and Barry live in Brisbane, a city I used to live in and I have very fond memories of, and had decided that whilst travelling in Europe they would get married in a Scottish Castle. Married in secret, only telling two of their closest friends who travelled with them for part of their trip around Europe. They chose the stunning Glenapp Castle, one of my favourite venues in Scotland for so many reasons – stunning setting, beautiful grounds, sumptuous interiors, award winning food and great staff – nothing is too much trouble and whether it is a small intimate wedding, as this was, or a larger wedding they ensure that all the details are just right.
Michelle’s silk dress was designed by Barry and was set off with a stunning lace jacket. In anticipation of the possibility of cooler weather than they are used to, Michelle also wore a wrap fastened by a celtic brooch. Barry opted to wear a kilt as did his best man.
Even though I only met Michelle and Barry on two occasions it feels like we have been friends for years and my abiding memory of their day is of lots of laughter.
I hope this small selection of your photographs brings back many happy memories for you both and I look forward to sharing the rest with you soon.
